Aljabaly Scores Twice in 3-0 Shutout of Kalamazoo

ANGOLA, IND.  --  Sophomore Nooh Aljabaly (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) scored a pair of goals in a 3-0 shutout against Kalamazoo (Mich.) College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play at Weaver Field.

Aljabaly scored his team and league-leading 12th and 13th goals of the season beginning with the only score of the first half on a penalty kick to give Trine (9-2-1, 2-1 MIAA) a 1-0 margin at the break.  It was one of two penalty kick attempts for the Thunder in the period.  The first attempt ended in a save for Kalamazoo (3-9, 0-3 MIAA).

The lead remained, 1-0, for Trine for the majority of the second half until the home team struck twice in the final 20 minutes.  Aljabaly tallied his second goal during the 71st minute to increase the margin to 2-0.  Senior Kyle Wainscott (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) then padded the lead with a goal at the 88:10 mark that was set up by a corner kick by freshman Brian Morris (Metamora, Mich./Lapeer) en route to the 3-0 final.

Trine ended the game outshooting KZOO, 13-3, with 10 of its 13 shots put on net.

Freshman Taylor Medina (Mill Creek, Ind./Rochester) played all 90 minutes at goalkeeper for the Thunder and stopped both shots he faced to capture his seventh win of the season (7-1-1 overall).

Trine will travel to Olivet, Mich. for a MIAA showdown against Olivet College on Saturday, Oct. 13.  The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in Olivet, Mich.
