Trine Wins 10th Game of Season With Shutout of Olivet

OLIVET, MICH.  --  The Trine University men's soccer team won its 10th game of the season with a 5-0 shutout against Olivet (Mich.) College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association matchup in Olivet, Mich.

It marks the first 10-win season for the Thunder since the 2011 season when Trine posted a 13-5-2 overall mark.

Sophomore Nooh Aljabaly (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) and senior Ben Moricz (Valparaiso, Ind./Valaparaiso) both had big days points wise with Aljabaly scoring three goals for the hat trick to go along with an assist and Moricz scored a goal in addition to assisting on all three Aljabaly goals.

Moricz put Trine (10-2-1, 3-1 MIAA) on the scoreboard with the first goal of the game at the 19:32 mark with an assist by Aljabaly.  The duo would then connect on the next three scores with Aljabaly finding the back of the net three times and Moricz assisting on all three scores.

Aljabaly recorded his first goal during the 23rd minute and went on to add goals during the 36 and 41st minutes en route to Trine taking a comfortable 4-0 lead into the intermission.

The Thunder outshot the Comets, 11-5, in the first half and kept that pressure up in period number two with a 10-3 shot margin.  The only goal of the second period came on a penalty kick with senior Kyle Wainscott (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) capitalizing on the shot attempt to round out the scoring and give Trine the 5-0 final victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Taylor Medina (Mill Creek, Ind./Rochester) only faced a pair of shot attempts in 90 minutes, but kept both shots out of the net for two saves and claimed his fourth shutout of the season.

Trine will host Adrian (Mich.) College in a MIAA contest on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Weaver Field.  The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
