Men's Soccer Defeated by No. 3 Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.  --  The Trine University men's soccer team lost to No. 3 nationally-ranked Calvin (Mich.) University, 3-1, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association game in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Calvin (13-1, 2-0 MIAA) netted the first goal of the game at the 11:25 minute mark of the first half and then struck again about four and-a-half minutes later during the 16th minute to go up by a pair of goals, 2-0.  Trine (4-6, 0-2 MIAA) got on the scoreboard just before the end of the half when senior Beau Hill (Allen, Texas/Allen) found the back of the net on an unassisted goal at the 43:20 mark to cut the deficit in half at the break, 2-1.

The deficit remained a goal for the Thunder until about the midway point of the second period when Calvin tacked on an insurance goal at the 68:22 mark to make the score, 3-1.  The two-goal margin sustained for the Knights the rest of the way who went on to claim the 3-1 victory.

Freshman Austin Hensley (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) made his second straight start and played all 45 minutes while tallying four saves on seven shots.

Trine will stay on the road and travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. for a MIAA contest against Kalamazoo College on Wednesday, Oct. 16.  The game is slated to start at 7 p.m.
