Trine Defeated by Indiana University in Non-Conference Action

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Trine University men's soccer team traveled down to Indiana University on Saturday night, but dropped a match to the NCAA DI Hoosiers 9-0.

The Thunder are 5-6 this season, and 0-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play. Indiana is 7-3-1 in 2021.

The Hoosiers opened up the scoring with goals in the ninth, tenth and eleventh minutes to take a commanding 3-0 lead and coasted to a halftime lead of 8-0 after hitting the back of the net twice in the final minute.

Indiana added on one more goal in the second half to widen the gap.

Alhasan Yahya [Melvindale, Mich. / Melvindale] led the team with one shot. Goalkeepers Luis Rodriguez [El Paso, Texas / Bel Air] and Troy Saylor [Caledonia, Mich. / Caledonia] combined for nine saves, with Saylor entering in the second half and held the Hoosiers to one goal on eight shots in his 45 minutes on the pitch.

The Trine men are back in action tomorrow at Olivet College for conference action against the Comets. Kick-off is at 7 pm.
