Men's Tennis Drops Close Match to Division II Cedarville

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FLA.-- The Trine men's tennis team dropped a close match to NCAA Division II foe Cedarville, 5-4, Monday evening at Sam Lando Park.

After dropping all three doubles matches, the Thunder rallied back with solid singles play to give the Yellow Jackets a scare. Caleb Knust (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) continues to be a force in the no. 1 singles court as he picked up his fourth-consecutive victory, 6-1, 6-1. Joe Dunbar (Indianapolis, Ind./Guerin Catholic) was victorious in no. 2 single by a 7-6 (9-7), 6-2 score. Joey Clarke added a win in the no. 3 court by a pair of 6-3 scores. Nick Ihrie (Kendalville, Ind./East Noble) rounded out Trine's winners with a 6-1, 6-4 victory in the no. 6 court.

Adam Levesque and Jared Gerber picked up singles wins for Cedarville. Gerber won what turned out to be the deciding match point in a tiebreaker.

The loss drops Trine to 4-4 overall. Cedarville improves to 4-2 on the season. The Thunder return to action tomorrow when they take on Grand Valley State at 12:30 p.m.
