Men's Tennis Falls at Hope

HOLLAND, MICH.-- The Trine men's tennis team turned in a competitive match with Hope, but fell to the Flying Dutchmen 6-3 in MIAA-action Wednesday afternoon.

The Thunder took a 2-1 lead after doubles play behind wins in the no. 1 and no. 3 courts. Caleb Knust (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) and Joe Dunbar (Indianapolis, Ind./Guerin Catholic) got an exciting win in the no. 1 court, winning by a final of 9-8. The Knust/Dunbar duo have won three of their last four matches. Joey Clark (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis) and Nick Ihrie (Kendalville, Ind./East Noble) combined for another close victory in the no. 3 court, winning 9-7.

Knust added another convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory at no. 1 singles. Knust is now 12-3 on the season. The Flying Dutchmen took all five of the other singles matches to earn the victory.

Trine returns to action Saturday, Apr. 5 when they travel to Bethel (Ind.) for a non-conference match beginning at 11:00 a.m.
