Men's Tennis Concludes Flighted Tournament

HOLLAND, MICH.-- The Trine men's tennis team concluded their performance in the MIAA Flighted Tournament Saturday at Etheridge Tennis Complex.

Joe Dunbar (Indianapolis, Ind./Guerin Catholic) won the Consolation Final of the A Singles Flight. He defeated Logan Beard of Alma 7-5, 6-1 to conclude his senior campaign in a strong fashion. Dunbar finishes his final campaign at Trine 10-11 overall and concludes his career with 32 wins. He advanced to the Consolation Final after defeating Alma's Joshua Gove yesterday, and by picking up a win by default.

Tyler Davis (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider) won the Consolation Final of the C Singles Flight. Davis picked up a three-set victory over Calvin's Anthony Vroon to advance to the finals, rallying back after dropping the first set. He prevailed in a hard fought final over another Calvin opponent, Jared Doezema. The freshman concludes his season having won his last three matches. 

Nick Cassidy (Archbold, Ohio/Perrsyburg) advanced to the Consolation Finals of the B Flight, but fell to Hope's TJ Brogan in three sets. Cassidy defeated Ross Kynast of Albion to advance to the final. He finishes his sophomore campaign 10-10.

The MIAA Flighted Tournament wraps up Trine's 2013-14 season. The Thunder finished 10-8 overall and 2-4 in MIAA matches.
