Men's Tennis Improves to 2-0

ANGOLA, IND.-- The Trine men's tennis team improved to 2-0 with an 8-1 victory over Indiana University-East in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at Glen Miller Park.

The Thunder swept singles play on their way to the victory. Caleb Knust (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) continued his strong Trine career with a pair of 6-0 victories in the no. 1 court. Freshmen Donald Zehner (Logansport, Ind./Logansport), Judson Quinn (Russiaville, Ind./Western) and Victor Flynn (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) each improved to 2-0 in their collegiate careers with victories in straight sets. Nick Cassidy (Archbold, Ohio/Perrysburg) and Joey Clark (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis) each added wins as well, with Cassidy pulling out his win in the tiebreaker.

Clark/Cassidy also combined for the victory at no. 2 doubles. Zehner paired with Spenser Gilbert (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) with the doubles victory in the no. 3 court.

Ty Butler and Connor Kramer picked up the lone point for IU-East. The Red Wolves fell to 0-1 on the season.

Trine returns to action next weekend at Capital University, where the Thunder will face Capital on Friday and Otterbein on Saturday.
