ANGOLA, IND.-- The Trine men's tennis team was defeated by St. Francis, 7-2, Friday evening at Swinney Tennis Center.
Joey Clark (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis) earned the lone singles win for the Thunder, winning 6-4, 6-0 in the no. 4 flight. Clark is now 2-0 on the season. Donald Zehner (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) and Spenser Gilbert (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) earned an exciting victory at no. 3 doubles by a 9-8 final. The duo had to go to the tiebreak to prevail. Trine falls to 2-3 on the season. St. Francis improved to 6-8 with the victory.
Nathan Barger, Matt Stallman, Payton Selking, Michael Thompson and Daniel Harrold all earned singles victories for St. Francis. Barger/Stallman and Selking/Tate Dishman were victorious in the top two doubles flights.
Trine will host Lawrence Tech this Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. before closing out the fall season with a home match against John Carroll on Friday, Oct. 3.
