SPRING ARBOR, Mich.-- The Trine men's tennis team earned its fifth-consecutive victory with a 6-3 win over NAIA-foe Spring Arbor Wednesday afternoon at Cougar Tennis Courts.
Judson Quinn (Russiaville, Ind./Western) picked up a big three-set victory for the Thunder. The freshman traded the first two sets by 6-3 scores with his opponent, before rallying to get the 6-3 win the final set. Quinn extended his winning-streak to five. Caleb Knust (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) and Spenser Gilbert (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) each extended their winning-streaks to five as well with singles victories. Trine improved to 7-4 on the season. Spring Arbor fell to 5-13.
Knust's victory was the 43rd of his Trine career. He is now one win from tying Keith Keggeris for the most wins on record at the school. The school records on file date to 1986.
Joey Clark (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis) also picked up a singles victory to improve to 6-1 on the year. Clark has won four-straight singles matches.
The doubles pairings of Knust/Nick Cassidy (Archbold, Ohio/Perrysburg) and Clark/Gilbert were also successful in picking up victories for the Thunder. Knust/Cassidy earned the victory in the no. 1 flight, while Clark/Gilbert were victories in the no. 3 court.
Trine hosts Hope in a conference match this Wednesday at 4 p.m.
