FREELAND, Mich.-- Trine's Caleb Knust has been named the MIAA Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Knust won all of his matches in singles and doubles play in helping the Thunder winning-streak reach six matches. The junior won both of his singles matches in straight sets and both of his matches at no. 1 doubles. Highlighting the week were 6-2, 6-1 victories in the no. 1 singles flight and an 8-4 doubles victory to help Trine beat Hope for the first time ever. Knust is being honored as player of the week for the second time this season and the fifth time in his career.
Knust's next singles victory will make him the winningest player in singles matches at Trine. He is currently tied at 44 wins with Keith Kegerreis (1993-96) for the most wins on record in school-history. Team records date back to 1986.
Trine will face perennial-MIAA powerhouse Kalamazoo on the road this Tuesday, Apr. 7. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
