Hornets Halt Men's Tennis Win-Streak at Six

KALAMAZOO, Mich.-- Kalamazoo halted the Trine's winning-streak at six with a 9-0 victory over the Thunder in MIAA-action Tuesday afternoon at Markin Tennis Center.

Caleb Knust (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) and Nick Cassidy (Archbold, Ohio/Perrysburg) gave the Hornets their toughest challenge in the no. 1 doubles flight. The duo pushed Kalamazoo's top pairing of Branden Metzler and Robert Hudson, but were defeated 8-6. Brian Zehner (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) and Spenser Gilbert (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) also provided a tough challenge at no. 3 doubles, before falling 8-5.

The loss drops Trine to 8-5 overall and 1-1 in the MIAA. Kalamazoo improved to 9-5 overall and 3-0 in conference matches. The Hornets are ranked 10th in the Central Region by the ITA.

Trine is scheduled to return to action Thursday, Apr. 9 for a non-conference match at Hanover.
