Construction Update: Ryan Tennis Center

ANGOLA, Ind.-- Construction progress continues on new tennis courts and a plaza at Trine University.

Ryan Tennis Center is in the beginning phases of construction. An asphalt surface has been added to the area where the new courts will be located, with a small concrete wall also completed along Thunder Drive. Supports for fencing have begun to be installed as well. The photo at right shows the view looking east along the south end of Ryan Tennis Center construction. The wall and fencing supports at right border Thunder Drive across from Hershey Hall and Ketner Sports Center.

Ryan Tennis Center is named for lead donors Cliff Ryan, a Trine University trustee and 1966 alumnus, and his wife, Sig. The facility will feature two new tennis courts, bringing the total to six courts, along with seating and a plaza area to allow for tournament officiating.

"Thanks to dedicated alumni and friends, such as the Ryans, Trine is able to update its athletic facilities for our competitive tennis teams and all students," said Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., Trine president. "This project is one part of the more than $155 million that Trine has raised and invested in the campus in the past 10 years."

Trine plans to dedicate Ryan Tennis Center during homecoming weekend, Oct. 9-10.
