ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine men's tennis team has announced its spring schedule for the 2016 season.
The Thunder open the spring with a Mar. 15 match at NAIA-foe Bethel (Ind.). Trine will also play home matches against NAIA opponents Huntington and Spring Arbor, and will travel to face NAIA foe Taylor. The nonconference slate also includes a road trip to face Rose-Hulman and a neutral-site match against Hanover at Defiance College.
Following four nonconference matches to open the spring, the Thunder host Olivet to open the MIAA season Apr. 2. The conference season also sees Kalamazoo, Calvin and Alma travel to Trine. The Thunder will face Adrian and Albion on the road.
Trine has tied for fifth in the MIAA the last two seasons and will be looking to improve upon its conference mark this spring. The Thunder have finished with a 2-4 league record in each of those two seasons. The team showed well in the fall season, earning a 3-1 record.
This will be Trine's first season competing in the newly-constructed Ryan Tennis Center. The complex features two new tennis courts as well as a new plaza and seating area.
All-time singles wins leader Caleb Knust (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) will be looking to wrap up a fourth-consecutive All-MIAA First Team honor. The senior has a career record of 51-11.
