ALBION, Mich.-- The Trine men's tennis team was defeated by Albion 6-3 in a MIAA match contested at Albion College's Dow Courts.
Victor Flynn (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South) and Colin Couch (Batavia, Ohio / Glen Este) each collected victories in singles play for the Thunder. Each player picked up his sixth win of the season. Flynn picked up his win by scores of 6-4, 6-0. Couch won the first set 6-2 before his opponent evened things up by taking the second set. Couch was able to prevail 10-7 in the tiebreaker to take home the victory.
Couch also combined with Garrett Baysinger (Brazile, Ind. / Rockville) on the victory in the No. 2 doubles court. The duo earned a hard-fought 9-7 victory. Couch and Baysinger competed in their first match as a pairing.
Trine fell to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in the MIAA with the loss. Albion improved to 4-13 overall, 2-4 in conference matches.
The Thunder return to action tomorrow with a neutral-site match against Hanover at Defiance College.
