Inaugural Ryan Tennis Center Matches Set for Saturday

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The inaugural matches at Trine University's Ryan Tennis Center are set to be played this Saturday.

The Thunder tennis teams will host Wittenberg at noon in the first collegiate matches ever played in the newly-renovated tennis facility. Students in attendance will receive a free Trine athletic spirit giveaway while supplies last. Free popcorn will also be available to all attendees.

Construction of Ryan Tennis Center was completed in October 2015, with the resurfacing of the existing courts being completed this past summer. The facility features two new tennis courts, bringing the total to six courts, along with seating and a plaza area.

Ryan Tennis Center is named for lead donors Cliff Ryan, a Trine University trustee and 1966 alumnus, and his wife, Sig.

In the event of inclement weather, Saturday's matches and events could be moved inside to Keith E. Busse / Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center.

Trine's men's tennis team opened the season with a 5-4 victory over Grace and enters the weekend 1-0. The Thunder women dropped its first match of the season at Grace and carries an 0-1 record into Saturday's match.

Each team will also host Earlham in a non-conference match this Sunday, Sep. 11 at 10 a.m.
