Men's Tennis Edged by Calvin

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine men's tennis team was edged by Calvin, 5-4, in a MIAA match Saturday afternoon at Trine University.

Victor Flynn (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South) and Judson Quinn (Russiaville, Ind. / Western) got the Thunder on the board first with the victory at no. 1 doubles. The duo earned a hard-fought 9-7 victory. Flynn and Quinn earned their team-leading 10th doubles victory of the year.

Flynn also earned the no. 3 singles victory for Trine in comeback fashion. After dropping the first set, the junior rallied back with a 6-3 victory to even things up. Flynn was able to complete the comeback by taking the tiebreak, 10-7.

Tyler Davis (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Snider) also earned his victory in comeback fashion. After dropping the first set, Davis answered with a 6-4 with in set two to tie the match. A 10-6 win in the tiebreak completed the comeback and gave Davis the victory. He improved to 8-3 in singles matches this year.

Garrett Baysinger (Brazil, Ind. / Rockville) earned the final Thunder singles victory in the no. 4 court. The senior controlled his match for a 6-1, 6-2 win. Baysinger's next win will give him a 10-win season for the first time in his career.

The loss dropped Trine to 8-7 overall and 1-2 in the MIAA. Calvin improved to 11-4 overall, 2-1 in conference matches.

The Thunder return to action Tuesday, Apr. 11 at Adrian. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
