Trine Skates Past ONU

ADA, OHIO – The Trine University men's tennis team came away with the 6-3 over Ohio Northern University, in a road contest on Sunday.

The Thunder started the match on the right foot, scoring three wins during the doubles portion of the match. Seniors Victor Flynn (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / Grosse Point South) and Judson Quinn (Russiaville, Ind. / Western) came away with an 8-6 victory in the No. 1 match. Junior Blake Trusty (Fremont, Ind. / Fremont) and Jacob Weiss (Richmond, Ind. / Richmond) came away with the win at the No. 2 match by the score of 8-5. Freshman Isaac Everitt (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg) and sophomore Sam Luke (Indianapolis, Ind. / Bishop Chatard) put up the final win of the portion with an 8-4 victory at the No. 3 match.

Trine put the match away with three points in the singles portion. Trusty needed three sets but came away with the win in the No. 3 match with scores of 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. Weiss took the No. 5 match with scores of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Senior Bryce Hernley (Indianapolis, Ind. / Ben Davis) gave the Thunder the final point in the No. 6 match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Trine will next compete on Thursday, March 22, when they host Bethel (Ind.) College for a 4 p.m. match.
