Men's Tennis Sweeps Albion

ANGOLA, IND. – The Trine University men's tennis team opened Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with a 9-0 sweep of visiting Albion College.

Trine started the event taking all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, the team of seniors Victor Flynn (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South) and Judson Quinn (Russiaville, Ind. / Western) defeated their opponents 8-2. Both the No. 2 match team of junior Blake Trusty (Fremont, Ind. / Fremont) and sophomore Jacob Weiss (Richmond, Ind. / Richmond) and the No. 3 match team of freshman Isaac Everitt (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg) and sophomore Sam Luke (Indianapolis, Ind. / Bishop Chatard) came away with the 8-3 victories.

In the singles both Trusty and Weiss came away with the sweeps winning the No. 3 and No. 5 matches 6-0, 6-0. Senior Bryce Hernly (Indianapolis, Ind. / Ben Davis) picked up the victory in the No. 6 match with scores of 6-1, 6-1 while Quinn won the No. 2 match with scores of 6-2, 6-2. Flynn won the No. 1 match with scores of 6-4, 6-1 and Everitt took the No. 4 match with scores of 6-4, 6-2.

With the victory Trine improves to 5-7 overall and 1-0 in the MIAA. They will next compete when they travel to face off with Kalamazoo College tomorrow, April 5, for a 4 p.m. match.
