GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. – The Trine University men's tennis team came up short against Calvin College today falling by the score of 6-3.
The Thunder struggled in the doubles portion of the contest failing to pick up a match and entering the singles portion trailing 3-0.
In singles the Thunder would come away with three victories. In the most decisive victory of the day for the team senior Judson Quinn (Russiaville, Ind. / Western) came away with the No. 2 match with scores of 6-4, 6-0. In the No. 5 match sophomore Jacob Weiss (Richmond, Ind. / Richmond) came out on top with scores of 7-5, 4-6, 10-7. Senior Bryce Hernly (Indianapolis, Ind. / Ben Davis) recorded the final victory for Trine with scores of 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 in the No. 6 match.
Trine would drop the other three matches to finish the day with the 6-3 defeat. The team falls to 5-9 overall and 1-2 in conference.
The Thunder will compete again on Tuesday, April 10, when they host Adrian College in a 4 p.m. match.
