Men's Tennis Drops First Match of Season

GRANGER, Ind. -- The Trine University men's tennis team was defeated by host Bethel (Ind.) College by the score of 8-1.

The lone victory in the contest for the Thunder came from the No. 6 singles match where junior Austin Balos (Niles, Mich. / Brandywine) defeated his opponent with scores of 6-2, 6-3.

Despite only coming away with one victory Trine came close in multiple matches. In the No. 5 singles match freshman Evan Trusty (Fremont / Fremont) came up just short with scores of 6-7 (5-7), 5-7. In the No. 4 match, sophomore Isaac Everitt's (Scottsburg / Scottsburg) opponent needed a the super-tiebreaker to come away with the victory with scores of 6-4, 2-6, 5-10.

The strongest doubles performance came from the team of Everitt and freshman Jaxon Davis (Angola / Angola) in the No. 3 match. The Thunder came up just short losing the match 7-9.

Trine falls to 2-1 on the season after the loss. They will look to bounce back when they travel to face Franklin on Tuesday, Sept. 18 in a 3:30 p.m. contest.
