Men's Tennis Defeats King's

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Trine University men's tennis team started their spring break out right winning their first match by the score of 8-1 over King's (Pa.) College.

The Thunder started the match strong taking all three victories in the doubles portion of the match. At No. 1 doubles senior Blake Trusty (Fremont, Ind. / Fremont) and freshman Evan Trusty (Fremont, Ind. / Fremont) took their match 8-2. In the No. 2 match junior Jacob Weiss (Richmond, Ind. / Richmond) and junior Jordan Baker (Salem, Ind. / Salem) came away with the victory 8-3. Sophomore Isaac Everitt (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg) and freshman Jaxon Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) swept through the No. 3 match, 8-0.

Trine then finished off the victory taking five of six matches in the singles portion of the contest. Both Baker and freshman Adam Dills (Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble) took their matches with scores of 6-1, 6-0. Everitt won the No. 4 match with scores of 6-0, 6-1 while Weiss took the No. 2 match with scores of 6-3, 6-4. In the final match of the contest, Davis needed a super tiebreaker to come up with the final Trine victory by 6-2, 4-6, 10-3.

The Thunder improve to 5-2 following the victory. They will continue their season tomorrow, March 5 when they take on Clark University at 6:30 p.m.
