Men’s Tennis Beats Host Alma

ALMA, Mich. – The Trine University men's tennis team defeated host Alma College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual match by the score of 8-1.

The Thunder came out of the doubles portion of the competition with two points dropping just one match. In the No. 2 match juniors, Jacob Weiss (Richmond, Ind. / Richmond) and Jordan Baker (Salem, Ind. / Salem) came away with the 8-6 victory. In the No. 3 match sophomore Isaac Everitt (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg) and freshman Jaxon Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) picked up the win 8-4.

Trine finished off the win taking all six singles matches. Weiss, Davis, Everitt and Baker all finished off the match undefeated by winning their singles matches. Senior Blake Trusty (Fremont, Ind. / Fremont) came up with the No. 1 singles match victory with scores of 6-3, 0-6, 10-5. Freshman Evan Trusty (Fremont, Ind. / Fremont) finished off the Thunder win with a victory in the No. 5 match with scores of 6-2, 6-2.

Trine improves to 9-9 overall and 3-3 in MIAA play following the victory. They will finish off their season by hosting Calvin College on Wednesday, April 24. The dual match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
