Trine Tennis Nabs ITA All-Academic Awards

TEMPE, Ariz. – Both the Trine University men's and women's tennis teams were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for their work in the classroom both individually and as a program.

Both the men's and women's teams were named All-Academic Teams. To earn the award teams must reach a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). This comes on the back of both teams earning the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Team GPA Award earlier this week.

In addition, both teams had multiple individuals who were named Scholar-Athletes by the ITA. The award is given to varsity letter status players with a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the current academic year.

Eight members of the women's team came away with the award. Four freshmen including Ellie Cole (Albion, Ind. / Central Noble), Camille Lozier (Elkhart, Ind. / Concord), Tatum Matthews (Midland, Mich. / Herbert Henry Dow) and Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Southeastern) earned the award. Joining them were sophomores Andrea Jordan (New Haven, Ind. / New Haven), Delaney Keirn (Claypool, Ind. / Whitko) and Katie Simon (Paw Paw, Mich. / Paw Paw) and junior Kyra Braun (Portland, Ind. / Jay County).

Four members of the men's team were named Scholar-Athletes. One member from each class represented the team including freshman Adam Dills (Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble), sophomore Isaac Everitt (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg), junior Austin Balos (Niles, Mich. / Brandywine) and senior Blake Trusty (Fremont, Ind. / Fremont).
