Men’s Tennis Competes at 2019 ITA Regionals

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Trine University men's tennis team was represented by three members at the 2019 ITA Division III Men's Central Regional Championship.

Senior Sid Petersen (Crown Pointe, Ind. / Bellmont) led the way for the Thunder in the event in both the singles and doubles portions of the competition. After losing his first match of the weekend, he picked up a win in the opening round of the consolation bracket with scores of 7-6 (7-2), 6-2. He then was defeated with scores of 6-1, 6-1 to bow out of the singles event.

In the doubles portion, Petersen teamed up with sophomore Evan Trusty (Fremont, Ind. / Fremont). The team lost their first contest of the event, before picking up a victory in their first consolation match by the score of 8-4. They then bowed out with an 8-2 loss.

Senior Jacob Weiss (Richmond, Ind. / Richmond) also competed as an individual at the event where he bowed out after two matches.

The event signals the competition of the fall portion of the team's season. They will next take the courts when they travel to Orlando, Fla. In March of 2020.
