Men's Tennis Defeats Wartburg

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Trine University men's tennis team defeated Wartburg College by the score of 6-3.

The Thunder picked up two doubles matches to start the contest. The team of senior Jacob Weiss (Richmond, Ind. / Richmond) and freshman Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) took the No. 2 match 8-4. In the No. 3 match sophomores Jaxon Davis () and Evan Trusty (Fremont, Ind. / Fremont) came up with an 8-5 win.

The team put the dual match away with four wins in the singles portion of the contest. Senior Sid Petersen (Crown Pointe, Ind. / Bellmont) took the No. 2 match 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) while Weiss took the No. 3 match 6-2, 7-5. In the No. 4 match Isaac Everitt (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg) came up with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Senior Jordan Baker (Salem, Ind. / Salem) got the last point for the team with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 6 singles match.

Trine improves to 5-1 following the win. They will take the courts again tomorrow, Wednesday, March 4 when they take on Emerson. The match is set to start at 6:30 p.m. and will take place at the USTA National Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla.
