Men's Tennis Comes Back to Defeat Emerson

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Trine University men's tennis team fell behind early but came back to defeat Emerson College by the score of 5-4.

The Thunder dropped two of the doubles matches to start the contest down 2-1. The team's victory came in the No. 2 match by the score of 8-6 from the team of freshman Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) and senior Jacob Weiss (Richmond, Ind. / Richmond).

Trine then dropped the first two singles matches to fall behind 4-1, but they went on to win the last four matches to pick up the 5-4 victory.

At No. 3 singles, Weiss became the lone Thunder to finish the match undefeated by getting the 7-5, 6-4 win. Isaac Everett (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg) won the No. 4 match but needed a super tiebreaker to do so with scores of 6-1, 4-6, 10-5. In the No. 5 match Drew Dixon (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers) won in straight sets. Senior Jordan Baker (Salem, Ind. / Salem) picked up the final point in the No. 6 match with scores of 7-5, 6-2.

Trine improves to 6-1 following the victory. The team will face off with Concordia University Moorhead in their next match, which is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 5.
