Men's Tennis Defeats Albion

ALBION, Mich. -- The Trine University men's tennis team defeated Albion College by the score of 7-2.

The Thunder started the day strong picking up all three doubles matches. In the No. 1 match the team of sophomore Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) and freshman Ryan Smith (Peru, Ind. / Peru) came up with the 8-6. The No. 2 team of junior Jaxon Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) and sophomore Drew Dixon (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers) completed the match with an 8-5 win. 

The closest match of the doubles portion came in the No. 3 contest where senior Isaac Everitt (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg) and sophomore Alex Mullet (Westfield, Ind. / Westfield) needed a tiebreaker to win 8-7(8-3).

Trine went on to take four of the six singles matches to finish with the 7-2 victory. Everitt began this portion of the day with a win in the No. 1 match with scores of 6-1, 6-4. Streit followed up in the No. 2 match with scores of 6-2, 6-1. Davis came away with the No. 3 match with scores of 6-4, 6-4. Smith picked up the last win in the No. 4 match with scores of 6-3, 6-1.

The Thunder improve to 6-3 overall following the victory. They will continue the season by traveling to face Anderson (Ind.) University on Friday, March 26. The match is set to start at 2 p.m.
