Men's Tennis Takes Win from Manchester

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Trine University men's tennis team knocked off Manchester University for the second time this season, this time with a 7-2 score.

The Thunder started the contest strong by sweeping the doubles portion of the contest. In the No. 1 match sophomore Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) and freshman Ryan Smith (Peru, Ind. / Peru) came up with an 8-5 victory. Junior Jaxon Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) and sophomore Drew Dixon (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers) came up with an 8-2 win. Senior Isaac Everitt (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg) and sophomore Eric Gaby (Syracuse, Ind. / Fairfield) came up with the most lopsided of the doubles wins with an 8-0 win.

Trine went on to take four more matches during the singles portion of the contest. Streit finished the match undefeated with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 2 match, and his doubles partner, Smith, did the same with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 4 match. Dixon came up with a sweep in No. 5 singles and sophomore Alex Mullet (Westfield, Ind. / Westfield) finished off the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 6 match.

The team improves to 8-3 following the victory. They will enter Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play in their next competition. They will host Alma College on Tuesday, March 30, with the match set to begin at 3 p.m.
