Men's Tennis Defeat Shorthanded Olivet

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University men's tennis team defeated a shorthanded Olivet College squad by the score of 9-0 in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) dual match.

The Thunder would take all three doubles contests, with the Comets fielding teams in only the top two matches. Sophomore Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) and freshman Ryan Smith (Peru, Ind. / Peru) took the No. 1 match 8-1. Junior Jaxon Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) and sophomore Drew Dixon (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers) did the same in the No. 2 match.

Trine went on to take all five contested singles matches. Senior Isaac Everitt (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg) in the No. 1 match and Dixon in the No. 5 match both swept their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Davis in the No. 3 match and Smith in the No. 4 match but came up with 6-0, 6-1 victories. Streit finished off the day with a 6-2, 6-3 win in No. 2 singles.

The Thunder improve to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in MIAA play. They will finish off the regular season when they travel to face Calvin University on Saturday, May 1. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
