Promising Start for Men's Tennis Thwarted by Weather

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The Trine University men's tennis team started off strongly securing a 3-0 lead after the completion of the doubles portion of the day, but were thwarted by the weather with the dual not finished due to rain.

The Thunder handily took the No. 3 doubles match with senior Jaxon Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) and freshman Caleb Morris (Terre Haute, Ind. / Terre Haute South Vigo) defeating their opponents 8-2.

The other two doubles matches were tighter affairs. In the No. 2 match junior Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) and sophomore Ryan Smith (Peru, Ind. / Peru) came up with a 8-6 victory. Then in the No. 1 match freshman Cole Goodman (Eagle, Mich. / Grand Ledge) and junior Drew Dixon (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers) needed a tiebreaker but came away with the win 8-7 (9-7).

The rain arrived with all of the singles matches in progress and the dual was unable to finish.

The Thunder will hope for sunnier skies tomorrow, Thursday, March 9 when they take on Judson (Ill.) University in their final day of spring break action.
