ANGOLA, Ind. – The cold weather and flurries forced the match indoors, but the Trine University men's tennis team was undeterred securing their third Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) victory with a convincing 8-1 result over visiting Albion College.

The Thunder would dominate the match from the start, sweeping the doubles portion of the contest. The No. 1 match was the closest of the three ending in an 8-4 win for freshman Cole Goodman (Eagle, Mich. / Grand Ledge) and junior Drew Dixon (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers). The No. 2 match was a lopsided 8-1 win for the team of junior Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) and sophomore Ryan Smith (Peru, Ind. / Peru) and the No. 3 match would go 8-2 to senior Jaxon Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) and freshman Caleb Morris (Terre Haute, Ind. / Terre Haute South Vigo).

The team continued to secure victories nearly sweeping the singles portion as well with the lone blemish coming in No. 3 singles. Morris posted the strongest win in the No. 6 match with scores of 6-1, 6-0. Goodman in the No. 1 match and Smith in the No. 5 match each won 6-3, 6-1. Streit would take the No. 2 match 6-4, 6-1 and Dixon would finish off the 8-1 victory with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the No. 4 match.

Trine improves to 8-6 overall and 3-1 in MIAA play following the win. They will continue their season by traveling to face Hope College on Tuesday, April 12 for a 4 p.m. dual.
