Thunder Battle goes Against Men's Tennis

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Trine University men's tennis team lost their final dual of spring break to Wheaton (Ill.) College by the score of 8-1.

Wheaton took the lead from the start winning all three doubles matches. Sophomore Cole Goodman and senior Drew Dixon came closest to earning a team point for the Thunder losing the No. 2 match by 8-5. Freshmen Elijah Schilthuis and Nicholas Jen also had a strong showing in the No. 3 match with an 8-4 loss.

Goodman went on to earn the lone win of the day for the team taking the No. 2 singles match with scores of 6-4, 6-4. Freshman Andrew Spirrison dropped the opening set of the No. 1 match and then put forth a valiant effort to get back into the match falling in a tiebreaker in the second set with scores of 1-6, 6-7 (7-2).

Trine falls to 5-3 overall following the loss. They will return home for their next match which is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 against Manchester University.
