Men's Tennis Wins Battle with Albion

ALBION, Mich. – The Trine University men's tennis team battled to a hard-fought win against their hosts from Albion College returning home with a 5-4 win.

It was the Britons that took the lead during the doubles portion of the day, taking two of three matches. The No. 1 team of freshman Andrew Spirrison and senior Aaron Streit did all they could to win the opening match but came up short in a tiebreaker, 7-8 (5-7). Sophomore Cole Goodman and senior Drew Dixon would get the win for the team with an 8-3 victory in the No. 2 match.

Goodman and Dixon both went on to finish with undefeated days after winning their singles matches. Goodman took the No. 2 match 6-2, 7-5 and Dixon came up with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 5. Streit go his first win of the day in the No. 4 match with scores of 6-3, 6-4. Finally, sophomore Caleb Morris gave the team the win in the No. 6 match with scores of 6-2, 6-3.

Trine improves to 8-3 overall and 1-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) following the win. They will continue their season when they travel to face Adrian College on Saturday, April 1. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
