ORLANDO, Fla. – The Trine University men's tennis team began the second half of their season with a convincing 9-0 victory over King's College on the first day of their spring break trip.

Two of the Thunder doubles teams needed just one over the minimum to win their matches. Sammy Yin and Andrew Spirrison in the No. 1 match and Caleb Morris and Nicholas Jen in the No. 3 match each won by the score of 8-1. The closest of the doubles matches came between the No. 2 teams where Cole Goodman and Drew Dixon won 8-5.

Dixon followed up in the No. 6 singles match with the most convincing of the wins for Trine, taking the match 6-0, 6-0. Yin needed just two more points to win at No. 1 with scores of 6-0, 6-2 and Morris won the No. 5 match 6-1, 6-2. Elijah Schilthuis had his first win of the day in the No. 4 match with scores of 6-3, 6-1. Spirrison at No. 3 (6-1, 6-4) and Goodman at No. 2 (6-3, 6-3) finished off the day with their wins.

The Thunder improve to 4-2 overall following the win. They will continue their season tomorrow, Tuesday, March 5 when they faceoff with Wheaton College at 12:30 p.m. The match is set to take place at the Fort Gatlin Tennis Center in Orlando.
