PENDLETON, Ind. – The Trine University men's tennis team pulled away from Anderson (Ind.) University during the singles portion of the match finishing with a 6-3 victory over their hosts.

The Thunder took two of the doubles matches, to take a slim 2-1 lead into the second half of the competition. Caleb Morris and Nicholas Jen won convincingly in the No. 3 match with a final score of 8-2. The No. 2 match ultimately went to Andrew Spirrison and Elijah Schilthuis, but it was a closer score of 8-6.

Cole Goodman played a long first set during the No. 1 singles match, ultimately coming up behind his opponent and prompting a comeback in the second and super tiebreaker to earn another team point for the Thunder with scores of 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 10-6. In the No. 3 match, Schilthuis earned his second win of the day with convincing scores of 6-4, 6-2.

Drew Dixon won his first match of the day at No. 5 singles with scores of 7-5, 6-2. In the final match of the day, Nicholas Jen needed a tiebreaker in the second set, but came up with a win with scores of 7-5, 7-6 (9-7).

The team improves to 7-3 following the win. They will enter the Michigan Intercollegiate Hockey Association (MIAA) portion of their schedule on Saturday, March 23. The home dual is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. against The University of Olivet.
