THUNDER HOSTS SECOND INDOOR INVITATIONAL

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Trine University track and field teams turned in several top performances against some tough competition as they hosted the Trine Indoor Invitational #2.

Fifteen teams took part in the invitational, including several MIAA teams and some of the top local NAIA schools.

The men’s team took home the win in two field events. Junior Dustin Stutzman (Topeka, Ind./Westview) turned in the top performance in the shot put, winning with a throw of 15.11m. Stutzman also finished seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 13.91m. In the long jump, Nate Grigsby (Royal Center, Ind./Pioneer) leaped to the win with a distance of 6.98m.

Tyler Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton Kellogg), a freshman, was Trine’s top finisher in the running events, finishing fifth in the 200m with a time of 23.38. In the 500m, freshman Randy Shaffer (Fremont, Ind./Fremont) finished seventh with a time of 1:10.71. In the relay events, the Thunder turned in top five performances in both the 4x200 and 4x400 races. Trine finished third in the 4x400 with a time of 3:29.58 and fourth in the 4x200 finishing in 1:34.20.

On the women’s side, junior Annalisa Krug (Battle Creek, Mich./Pennfield) gave Trine their top finish, taking second place in the 800m with a time of 2:25.45. In the mile, fellow junior Sannie Anderson (Hesperia, Mich./Hesperia) picked up a fourth place finish, completing the run in 5:30.43.

In the field events, freshman Erika Rockwell (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) turned in the best finished, placing seventh in the shot put with a throw of 11.57m.

Trine will host their next indoor invitational on February 17 beginning at 4:00 p.m.
