Trine Conditioner Meet Results

ANGOLA, Ind.-- Trine University's track and field teams opened their seasons in a big way as the two teams combined for 10 first-place finishes in the Trine Conditioner Meet, held Friday night at the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center.

 

The men's team notched nine first-place performances, while the women notched one first-place finish to go along with three second-place finishes. Tyler Bourdo finished first in three events to lead the men individually. Ariel McCoy took home first in the One Mile Run to pace the women. The Trine Conditioner featured performers from Trine University, Spring Arbor University, Adrian College, Defiance College and North Park University. The meet was not scored.

Bourdo won the 60 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash and 400 Meter Dash. Bourdo's time in the 400 meter dash was 4.5 seconds better than the second-place finisher in the event. The junior from Plainwell, Mich. earned All-American honors in the event last season.

 

McCoy won the One-Mile Run with a time of 5:53.59. The performance builds off the sophomore's strong conclusion to the cross country season. Fellow sophomore Courtney Forsythe finished just behind at 6:05 to place second in the one mile. Kelsey Ortiz helped the Thunder take the top three spots in the event.

 

Freshman Austin Ganger started his Trine indoor career in a big way, running a time of 9:15 to win the 3000 Meter Run. James Gregory added a win in the 60 Meter Hurdles with a time of 9.04 seconds. Trine's 4 x 400 Meter Relay team also notched a first-place finish.

 

The Thunder also got strong performances in field events. Logan Lindsley won the High Jump with a jump of 1.75 meters. Lincoln Frey vaulted 3.95 meters to lead all performers in the Pole Vault. Andrew Bunting added a first-place finish in the Weight Throw, with a distance of 16.36 meters. Bunting's throw was over 1.6 meters better than the second-place finisher.

 

Other notable performances on the women's side included second-place finishes for Cynthia Yoder in the 800 Meter Run and Lauren Darnall in the Pole Vault. Niki Salzman notched a third-place finish in the 400 Meter Dash.

 

The track and field teams will return to action Friday, Jan. 17 when they host the Trine Open at 4:30 p.m.
