Trine Open Results

ANGOLA, IND.-- Trine's track and field teams combined for seven first-place finishes in the Trine Open, held Friday evening in the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center.

The men's team combined for five first-place finishes, while Trisha King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) notched both first-place finishes on the women's side. Tyler Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg), Courtney Mitchell (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Leurs), Lincoln Frey (Pettisville, Ohio/Pettisville) and Andrew Bunting (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) picked up first-place finishes for the men. The men's 4 x 400 Relay team was also victorious. The meet was not scored on a team level. Spring Arbor and Olivet also competed in the Trine Open.

King won the women's 300 Meter Dash with a time of 43.29 seconds. Teammate Niki Salzman (Wheeling, Ill./Buffalo Grove) placed third in the same event. King also took first in the 600 Meter Run, besting the second-place finisher by over three seconds. Ariel McCoy (Garrett, Ind./Garrett) placed fourth in the 600 Meter.

Trine's best performance in distance events was in the One-Mile Run, where Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan) and Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) finished third and fourth respectively.

Katie Kachmaryk's (Standish, Mich./Au Gres-Sims) second-place finish in the Pole Vault and Kayla Johnsons's (Bronson, Mich./Bronson) third-place finish in the Weight Throw highlighted the ladies' performance in field events.

On the men's side, Bourdo won the 600 Meter Run with a time of 1:24.82. Mitchell was part of a solid Trine performance in the 300 Meter Dash, taking first while teammates Jacob Ullom (Winchester, Ind./Winchester Community) and Logan Lindsley (Battle Creek, Mich./Quincy) placed second and third respectively.

Frey's first-place finish in the Pole Vault and Bunting's win in the Weight Throw highlighted the Thunder's performance in field events.

Austin Ganger (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka) added second-place finishes in both the One-Mile Run and 3,000 Meter Run for the Thunder.

Trine returns to action next weekend at the Findlay Classic, which begins Friday, Jan. 24 and concludes the following day.
