Bourdo Places Fifth at National Championships

LINCOLN, NEB.-- Trine's Tyler Bourdo and Trisha King each earned fifth-place finishes in their respective events at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships, which concluded Saturday.

Bourdon (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg) turned in the fifth-best time in the nation in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 48.33 seconds. King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) ran a time of 2:13.51 in the 800 Meter Run to earn her fifth-place finish. Each runner earned All-American honors with their performance in finishing among the top-eight in the nation. Each runner set school-records in the preliminaries of their events Friday. Bourdo ran a Trine indoor-record time of 48.06 seconds. King's new school-record came in at 2:12.26.

The National Championship races were held at University of Nebraska's Devaney Sports Center. Nebraska Wesleyan served as the host. For each men's individual event contested, the top 15 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. The top 17 declared student-athletes were accepted into women's events.

The Indoor National Championships conclude the indoor track and field season. Trine opens the outdoor season Saturday, Apr. 5 when they travel to the DePauw Invitational.
