ROYAL OAK, MICH.-- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Trine's Dakota Bagwell the conference's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Bagwell (Kokomo, Ind./Western) won the Hammer Throw at the MIAA Jamboree with a toss of 156 feet, 11 inches. The junior also competed in the Javelin Throw. As a sophomore, Bagwell won the Hammer Throw at both the MIAA Jamboree and MIAA Field Day to earn all-conference honors. He is being honored as Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.
Bagwell's performance was part of a number of successful performances that paced Trine to a fifth-place finish in the MIAA Jamboree. The Thunder earned 427.5 points in the event.
The Trine men's track and field team will compete in Grand Valley State University's Al Owens Invitational this Friday and Saturday in Allendale, Mich.
