Bourdo Named Men's Track Athlete of the Week

ROYAL OAK, MICH.-- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Tyler Bourdo the conference's Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg) won the the 400-meter dash at Grand Valley State University's Al Owens Invitational in 48.53 seconds Saturday. His performance topped a field that included runners from the NCAA Division II, NAIA, and junior college levels. Bourdo also placed second in the 200-meter dash at the same event, turning in a time of 22.03 seconds. The junior is being honored as Athlete of the Week this season and for the fourth time in his career.

Bourdo previously earned Athlete of the Week honors for his performances in the 400-meter dash and 200-meter dash at the DePauw Invitational. Bourdo earned All-American recognition in the indoor season after placing fifth in the nation in the 400 Meter Dash. The junior is the reigning MIAA Men's Track Athlete of the Year.

The Trine men's track and field team has now produced an Athlete of the Week in three-consecutive weeks. Dakota Bagwell (Kokomo, Ind./Western) earned Field Athlete of the Week honors last week, with Bourdo earning honors the week prior.

Trine will compete in the Hillsdale Gina Relays this weekend, with events set to get underway Friday, Apr. 25 at 3 p.m.
