Thunder Men in Fifth at MIAA Field Day

ALMA, MICH.-- The Trine men's track and field team is in fifth-place at MIAA Field Day, which began Thursday at Bahlke Field.

The Thunder have earned 20 points thus far in the event. The top eight finishers in each event earn points for their respective teams. Through five scored events, Calvin leads the overall team competition with 83 points.

Trine got a strong performance in the Pole Vault. Lincoln Frey (Pettisville, Ohio/Pettisville) placed second in the event with a vault of 14 feet, nine inches. John Daniel finished just behind in third-place, vaulting 14 feet, 5.25 inches. Chase Harker (Greenfield, Ind./Mount Vernon) also placed, finishing eighth with a height of 11 feet, 9.75 inches.

Sam Gilly (St. Joseph, Ill./St. Joseph-Ogden) placed fifth in the Shot Put. Gilly turned in a throw of 41 feet, 8.75 inches. Derek Scott (Niles, Mich./Niles) came in with a throw one foot shorter to finish eighth.

Tyler Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg) qualified with the top times in the 200-Meter Dash and 400-Meter Dash. Luke Fimreite (McCordsville, Ind./Mount Vernon) qualified for both events, coming in at fourth in the 400-Meter Dash and fifth in the 200-Meter.

Jacob Leopold (Ottawa, Ohio/Ottawa-Glandorf) qualified at seventh in the 800-Meter Run. James Gregory (Warsaw, Ind./Tippecanoe Valley) turned in the seventh-best qualifying time in the 110 Meter Hurdles.
