Thunder See Success in Friday Night Special

INDIANAPOLIS, IND.-- The Trine men's track and field team turned in a successful performance in the University of Indianapolis Friday Night Special.

Highlighting the night was a school-record performance by Andrew Bunting (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) in the Weight Throw. The junior threw a distance of 57 feet, two inches to set a new indoor Trine record. The performance was good enough for second place, and nearly four feet better than Bunting's effort in last Friday's Trine Conditioner.

The 4 x 400 M Relay team finished first, topping the second-place finishers by 20 seconds. Tyler Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg), Luke Fimreite (McCordsville, Ind./Mount Vernon), Jacob Leopold (Ottawa, Ohio/Ottawa-Glandorf) and Zach Markley (Winamac, Ind./Winamac) combined to run a time of 3:25.71 in the event.

Leopold added an indoor personal-record time of 1:59.27 in the 800 M to finish third. Bourdo turned in a third-place finish in the 200M, and placed fifth in the 400 M. Fimreite placed sixth in the 400 M.

John Daniel (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) set an indoor-PR in the Pole Vault. The junior topped 14 feet, 5.5 inches. That mark was good enough for third overall.

Courtney Mitchell (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Leurs) threw a PR distance of 46 feet, 1.5 inches in the Shot Put to finish fifth. Sam Gilly (St. Joseph, Ill./St. Joseph-Ogden) added a fifth-place finish in the Weight Throw.

Trine's performances also included a third-place finish for Tim Clark (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka) in the 60 M Hurdles, and a fourth-place finish for Alex Hodges (Rochester Hills, Mich./Avondale) in the High Jump.
