Thunder Set Two Indoor-Records at Findlay Classic

FINDLAY, Ohio-- Trine set a pair of indoor school-records Saturday to wrap-up their peformance in the Findlay Classic.

Jacob Leopold (Ottawa, Ohio/Ottawa-Glandorf) set a new Trine indoor-record in the 800 M Dash. Leopold finished with a time of 1:56.92 to place second in the race. The sophomore topped his previous career-best indoor time in the event by nearly three seconds. John Daniel (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) set a new school-best indoor mark in the Pole Vault, vaulting a height of 15 feet, one inch to place third overall. The performance marked the first time the junior has topped the 15-foot mark in his career.

Tyler Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg) turned in a second-place finish in the 600 M with a time of 1:23.33. The senior added a 22.94-second performance in the 200 M to place second.

The 4 x 400 Relay Team also accounted for a second-place finish. Leopold, Nate Smoker (Bronson, Mich./Bronson), Zach Markley (Winamac, Ind./Winamac) and Christian Hill (Granger, Ind./Penn) combined for a time of 3:31.75. The only team to finish ahead of the Thunder was the top team from Division-II Findlay.

Robert Duke (Greentown, Ind./Eastern) added a third-place finish in the 3K, while Ricardo Castillo (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) placed fourth in the 1K. Markley added a fifth-place finish in the 400 M.

Trine will host the Don and Riley Zimmer Indoor Classic next Friday, Jan. 30 at Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center. Events are slated to begin at 5 p.m.
