Indoor Relay Record Highlights Wide Track Classic

HILLSDALE, Mich.-- Trine's 4 x 400 M Relay team set a new school-record to highlight the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic, held Friday and Saturday at Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center.

Tyler Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg), Luke Fimreite (McCordsville, Ind./Mount Vernon), Zach Markley (Winamac, Ind./Winamac) and Jacob Leopold (Ottawa, Ohio/Ottawa-Glandorf) combined to run a time of 3:21.17 to set a new school-best indoor mark. Their time was good enough for fourth among a field of NCAA Division II, NAIA, and Canadian college runners. At the time of writing, the team's mark ranked eighth in the nation among results submitted through TFRRS.

Runners making up the relay team also saw individual success elsewhere. Leading the way was Bourdo, with a fourth-place finish in the championship of the 400 M. The senior finished with a season-best time of 49.19 seconds. That mark ranked third in the nation at the time of writing.

Fimreite won the open portion of the 400 M in a career-best 50.95 seconds, topping his previous season-best by 0.4 seconds. Markley finished just behind at 51.02- a personal best by nearly one second. Nate Smoker (Bronson, Mich./Bronson) placed sixth in the same event with another personal-best time.

John Daniel (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) and Sam Gilly (St. Joseph, Ill./St. Joseph-Ogden) each turned in eighth-place finishes for Trine's best performances elsewhere. Daniel cleared 14 feet, 7.25 inches in the Pole Vault. Gilly's Weight Throw performance came in at 51 feet, 11 inches.

Patrick Richardville (Leo, Ind./Leo) added a ninth-place finish in the 200 M. Colin Thompson (Marshall, Mich./Marshall) added a personal-best 4:47.02 in the One Mile Run.
