Indoor Record, Personal-Bests Highlight Alumni Invite

ANGOLA, Ind.-- A Trine indoor record and numerous personal-bests highlighted the Jon and Carol Liechty Alumni Invitational, held Saturday at Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center.

Alex Hodges (Rochester Hills, Mich./Avondale) set a Trine indoor-record in the High Jump with a height of six feet, six inches. That jump topped the freshman's previous career-best by four inches. Courtney Mitchell (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Leurs) and Dakota Bagwell (Kokomo, Ind./Western) each added personal-bests.

Mitchell threw a distance of 47 feet, 11 inches to top his previous personal-best by over two feet. Bagwell added a personal-best 45 feet, 10 inches in the event. Bagwell also won the Weight Throw.

The women's team set six personal-bests. Kassandra Ellsworth (Saugerties, N.Y./Kingston) led the way with new career marks in both the 200 M and 60 M Hurdles.

Distance performers Heather Richardson (Fort Wayne, Ind./South Side) and Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) each notched personal-bests in their events. Richardson set a PR by 12 seconds in the Mile, while Ortiz won the 3000 M in 11:16.40.

Hallie Roof-Hildreth set a personal-best in the Pole Vault with a height of nine feet, six inches, and Codee Colby added a career-best Shot Put with a throw of 36 feet, 9.5 inches.

Trine will host the Trine Indoor Championships next Saturday, Feb. 28. While not an official MIAA-sponsored meet, the event will feature all MIAA teams that sponsor indoor track and field. Events begin at noon.
