Bourdo, Richardville Lead Thunder in Al Owens Classic

ALLENDALE, Mich.-- Two first-place finishes highlighted the performance of the Trine men's track and field team in the Al Owens Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State University.

Patrick Richardville (Leo, Ind./Leo) won the 100-meter dash, while Tyler Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg) won the 200-meter dash to notch the first-place finishes for the Thunder. Trine performers earned three other top-five finishes. The Thunder placed fourth overall in the meet with 43.33 points. The event included performers across all NCAA divisions as well as NAIA and junior college competitors.

Richardville set a personal-best on his way to a 10.82 second performance in the 100-meter dash. The freshman picked up his first collegiate win in the event.

Bourdo ran a season-best and nearly a school-record time of 47.92 seconds to win the 400-meter dash. The senior's time is fourth-best in the nation in Division III, based on results submitted to TFRRS at the time of writing.

Bourdo and Richardville combined with John Daniel (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) and John Harris-Scott (Wesley Chapel, Fla./Wiregrass Ranch) for a second-place finish in the 4-x-100-relay. The quartet of runners ran a time of 41.76 seconds, which ranks 10th in the nation.

Jacob Leopold (Ottawa, Ohio/Ottawa-Glandorf), Bourdo, Christian Hill (Granger, Ind./Penn) and Luke Fimreite (McCordsville, Ind./Mount Vernon) combined to place fourth in the 4-x-400-relay. The team ran a time of 3:19.87, second-best among Division-III teams in the meet.

Dakota Bagwell (Kokomo, Ind./Western) set a new personal-best on his way to a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw. Bagwell was the best Division-III performer in the event, with a throw of 174 feet, 11 inches.

Logan Lindsley (Battle Creek, Mich./Quincy) and Justin Dostal (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) finished sixth and seventh in the long jump. Lindsley set a PR with a distance of 20 feet, 11.75 inches. Dostal's jump was just one inch shorter. Lindsey also set a personal-best in the triple jump.

Daniel was Trine's final performer to earn points in the team standings as he tied for eighth in the pole vault. Daniel cleared a height of 14 feet, 6.25 inches.

Other notable personal-bests on the track included James Gregory (Warsaw, Ind./Tippecanoe Valley) setting a season-best in the 400-meter hurdles by over two seconds and Cody Mart (Channahon, Ill./Minooka Community) setting a new PR by 28 seconds in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

Sam Gilly (St. Joseph, Ill./St. Joseph-Ogden), Tyler Niehoff (Wheatfield, Ind./Kankakee Valley) and Brendan Haile (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) each set new personal-bests in the discus.

Trine will compete in the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic, April 24-25 at Hillsdale College.
