Bourdo Concludes Season at National Championships

CANTON, N.Y.-- Trine's Tyler Bourdo wrapped up his Trine career with his performance in the preliminaries of the 400-meter dash Friday evening at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.

Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg) placed 10th in the preliminaries of the event, coming in with a time of 48.47 seconds. The senior was just .17 seconds shy of qualifying for his third-straight national championship race. Bourdo wraps up his career having earned four total All-America honors in the event, with two honors each in the indoor and outdoor seasons. He was a six-time national qualifier in the event combining the indoor and outdoor campaigns. Bourdo is the only student-athlete on record in school-history to earn All-America honors four times in any sport.

In addition to his national honors, Bourdo was the two-time MIAA Most Valuable Track Athlete. The senior was a four-time all-conference performer in the outdoor season and won six MIAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week awards. He is Trine's only three-time conference champion in any event at MIAA Field Day, which serves as the conference championship.

Bourdo will go down as the individual-record holder in the 200-meter, 400-meter and 600-meter events. He is also a part of two record-setting relay teams.

The performance concluded the 2014-15 season for the Thunder. Trine will lose just three seniors after earning its best-ever finish in the MIAA this season.
