Several Thunder set Personal-Bests at Hillsdale

HILLSDALE, Mich.-- Members of the Trine men's track and field team set several personal-bests on the first day of the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic. 

Devan Emerson (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown) ran a time of 7.15 seconds in the first collegiate performance in the 60-meter dash. His time was the best of any Division III student-athlete. The junior's time ranked 15th in the preliminaries of the event. 

Calvin Sander (Jasper, Ind./Northeast Dubois) added a personal-record time of 23.45 seconds in the 200-meter dash preliminaries. Patrick Richardville (Leo, Ind./Leo) topped Trine's competitors in that event with a time of 23.04 seconds, 12th overall. 

Freshman Mitchell Martin (Monroe, Mich./Monroe) added a personal-best throw of 48 feet in the weight throw. Martin has improved upon his weight throw distance by more than four feet since the beginning of the season. 

Other notable field performances included Logan Lindsley's (Battle Creek, Mich./Quincy) long jump of 21 feet, 3.75 inches. Ryan Haarer (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) and Jacob Payne (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) each topped 13 feet, 3.5 inches in the pole vault. 

Trine was led in distance events by Nicholas Zak (Saint John, Ind./Hanover Central) with a 4:38.38 Mile and Michael Becker's (Wauseon, Ohio/Wauseon) time of 9:02.34 in the 3000-meter run.
